| News Details | | | | Gate Update June 2010
Please accept my apologies for the lateness of giving you an update on the dock gate repairs.
Arch Henderson, Consultant Engineers and Designers were working to a time schedule of June 2010 for the repairs, which they have obviously not achieved. Apparently they have had a number of issues in the drawing department, which has apparently delayed our drawings being sent out to tender.
MDL have now received a provisional timescale from Arch Henderson for the process:
Issue tender documents Friday 11th June 2010 Tender documents returned Tuesday 22nd June 2010 Award contract Friday 25th June 2010 They have stated that the manufacture of the parts would start immediately after the contract is awarded with the installation in July. Hydraulic and electrical companies will follow the locking mechanism installation .
MDL is disappointed with the current delays in the gate repairs, but the Consultants are understandably cautious to ensure they meet the requirements for both the installation of the locking mechanism and long-term workings. Keith Short and I have been on the telephone at least twice a week trying to move the process forward and we will continue with our dogged approach until we have the gate repaired.
We currently have scaffolding at the gate entrance to repair the concrete corbel.
Underwater Divers will be on site in the next few weeks to ensure the hinges and seal on the gate are correct prior to the locking mechanism being fitted.
MDL’s aim is still to have the pontoons installed at the end of July beginning of August 2010 to enable the marina to be complete in mid August.
The staff and I appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience
