News Details February 2010 Gate Update The winch motor that was due for delivery to the UK and through transportation to Cumbria at the end of December 09 was unfortunately delayed due to the unprecedented snow and ice. Derwent Fluid Power installed the motor at the end of January, which was subsequently set up by Hagglunds UK, the manufacturers. Arch Henderson Civil and Structure Engineers arrived on site on Wednesday 10th February 2010 to undertake the following work: • Topographical and dimension survey of gate • Design check on gate hinges • Outline design on two locking options • Detailed design • Prepare tender documents, invite tenders and make recommendation The time scale for completion this work is 13 weeks from the survey, completion due by weekending 9th May 2010. It is thus anticipated that the actual repair work will take approximately 4 weeks once the appointed contractor is on site and the gate functional. The pontoon system will not be replaced until the gate is working; therefore we believe that the marina will be complete in August 2010. We understand that the timescales are longer than we all anticipated, but it is essential that Maryport Developments Ltd and its customers have full confidence in the gate’s mechanisms.
